Following the Rabbit Hole

Today is one of my days off. I have commemorated it by deviating from my rountine and getting on the computer right after waking. Usually I get up, stumble to the kitchen and put on two pots of water to boil. One pot is for my morning oatmeal and one is for my morning green tea. Once my oatmeal has cooked and my tea steeped I scoop up a cup of all natural plain yogurt, sweeten it with stevia, and sit down at our kitchen table for breakfast.
This morning I got up and logged on to the internet, just nosing around-- checking email (nothing good), reading blog subscriptions and such. I came to begin reading an essay Gloria Steinem wrote concerning the republican party's V.P. choice. I came to this by way (O.K. are you ready?) this post by Boho Girl, which led me to this post by Momma Zen, which led me to this essay by Gloria Steinem and this essay by Anne Lamott. In the middle of reading the first essay by Steinem I decided to not deviate wholly from my routine so I wandered downstairs and made my breakfast, and then carried it upstairs to read and eat.
Both essays were very rewarding to read. These are two voices that I trust for their strong feminist values. Especially Lamott, whose writings I absolutly devour. I found comfort in their words, in their ability to diplomatically offer cause for concern at this political choice. They were able to encapsulate all the meandering irks and qualms I had about this aspect of the race with civility, poise, honesty, and even humor.
Next my blog reading led me to a beautiful, introspective post over at The Silent K. At the end of the piece she posted a very intruiging video which I watched and then followed its link to YouTube. Where I found three amazing live Ani DiFranco performances!  Oh how I adore Ani.
See! Rabbit holes all morning. Now, it is time for me to get in the shower and warm my chilly, achy bones. I am to meet my dear friend Maurine for tea and a knitting lesson (I'm finally going to learn how to knit!) in about an hour.
